Seychelles Islands: Dream beaches, Mahé and other 'must' of the archipelago

This paradise contains many more attractions than, 'a priori', one might think. Take a look at all the proposals.

Although they are also located in the Indian Ocean, Seychelles Islands have nothing to do with other islands around them - such as Madagascar or Sri Lanka. To the chromatic difference of its flag, sprinkled with five different colours in front of the Malagasy bitonal or the Sri Lankan of three colours, its greater proximity to the Equator is united. This geographic feature is what guarantees good weather during the trips that are made in the months of October to May, being in this season when the winds are wetter and warmer; while in January and December, the experience of travelling to Seychelles is more likely to be passed through water.

Seychelles Islands

This archipelago of the Indian Ocean is made up of outer islands - of more complicated access and wild environments - and interiors - inhabited and much easier to visit. In the latter case Mahe Seychelles is included, the land where the capital and the most populated city of the country is located -Victoria, where 85% of the Seychelles reside-, as well as the airport to which the plane that takes this paradisiac country will arrive full of coasts and dreamy sands.

Touring this beautiful island, you will notice that most of the inhabitants of Mahe Seychelles are of French Creole descent, although the Indian, Malay or African lineages also survive in some families. This mixture of cultures is what has provided Seychelles with a wide range of gastronomic offerings very influenced by their varied origins, and among their most typical dishes can't miss the recipes with meat, vegetables and rice.

Praslin and La Digue ... in addition to Seychelles Islands Mahe

Although the main island of Seychelles is Mahé, it is convenient to drop by at least two other important islands of the archipelago. Moving between the islands is not complicated at all, in the event that we travel to the so-called 'interiors', it will be enough to take a ferry to access them. If you want to know the 'outside', you will have to get on a plane to get to its shores, since the distance is greater.
In the case of Praslin Island, you only have to travel 50 kilometres, establishing Mahé as the starting point. The most recognized of its territory is, in addition to the luxurious hotels it houses, such as Raffles or Lemuria, the Valle de Mai Nature Reserve. This natural jungle declared a World Heritage Site, is a prehistoric forest where the palm trees that give the endemic fruit of Seychelles are a constant: only in this place you can find giant seeds of up to 20 kilos in the shape of being' known like 'coco de mer'.

La Digue is another of the islands that you should visit during your stay in Seychelles. Recognizable as an almost fantastic scene where the rock formations coexist in perfect harmony with the crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean, the fourth largest inhabited island in the country - with 10 square kilometers of surface area - is an ideal destination for those who want to forget the pollution of the vehicles: its extension is so comprehensible that the car is hardly used and all the trips are made by bicycle or on the back of a donkey.

Places to visit in Seychelles Islands

Since you have left Spain at 7,800 kilometres away, take the opportunity to fall in love with the outer islands of Seychelles. Enjoy the exoticness of Seychelles beach, contemplate its abundant vegetation or be part of the authenticity of its shores is at your fingertips. You will feel like an authentic Robinson Crusoe exploring your unknown secrets. So much so, that until recently the visit to some of the islands, such as Aldabra, was very restricted and it was very complicated to get access permits
Scuba diving, snorkelling, hiking or trekking are just some of the sports that can be practised in these jungle landscapes. Being the protagonist of a more 'private' stay is possible in these outer islands that will put the perfect finishing touch to a route through Seychelles that you will never forget.
